//Impact

As humans, we impact nature in positive but largely negative ways. Living spaces are diminished by deforestation, species are extinct by cruel practices or greed. We think, we can exploit animals, resources, or places for profit. As a result, we face crises such as global warming, pandemics and viruses that are actually self-defensive mechanisms of nature to overcome the human impact.

The topics I am working on are connected to nature and life. I want to draw the spectators’ attention not only to the beauty and grace of the animal, as this is what is catching the eye first using a realistic-figurative style of painting. But getting closer, the viewer recognises a transparent filter as an overlay on the painting representing the human impact. ‘Impact’ is also the title of the collection of different digital paintings printed on acrylic glass to which a transparent overlay is attached. The overlay symbolises the choice humans have either to kill, encage, or capture the animal or leave nature untouched.
